Yu Mobiles Highlights
YU Televentures, or more commonly referred to as YU Mobiles, is an Indian electronics brand that mainly develops smartphones and their accessories. Founded in December 2014, YU is a brand that targets youth with its products. It was formed as a joint venture between Micromax Informatics Limited and Cyanogen Inc. For those of you who may not be aware, Cyanogen Inc is a company that used to develop Cyanogen OS, an Open-Source version of Android with built-in customizations for users, allowing each and every YU phone user to modify the look and feel of the software at their heart’s content. The Cyanogen OS was primarily very famous in the Android Open-Source world thanks to its high reliability and, of course, the number of modifications it brought to the Android OS.
YU is the first smartphone company to develop a YU smartphone alongside Cyanogen Inc, running on Cyanogen OS. This gave the brand huge popularity in its early days in the Indian market, considering the first YU new mobile, dubbed the YU Yureka, was powered by Cyanogen OS 12 based on Android Lollipop 5.0.2. Moreover, launched in early 2015, and it featured Snapdragon 615 processor and 2GB RAM. Its spiritual successor, the Yureka Plus was released after a few months as a better alternative to the original Yureka. As you can judge by the YU mobile price list above, it came up with more smartphones along the line powered by the Cyanogen OS. Other than that, the electronics brand also came up with a few nifty smartphone accessories creating an ecosystem of its own.
