Ever since WWE decided to split The Usos, they have promoted Jey Uso as a main eventer and Jimmy Uso on the other hand as a mid card. Jey had been pretty much over with the fans since starting to work solo as his entrance dance and “Yeet” catchphrase played a vital role in his success.
But along with his success with the live crowds, he had to deal with major criticism too for not being able to produce good matches lately. He had always been a great tag team wrestler but he failed to provide main event level matches ever since he started working solo.

Jey Uso answers his critics and discusses recent struggle
His match against his twin brother Jimmy at WrestleMania was supposed to be his breakthrough match but unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the worst matches of the event and of 2024. But thankfully, his main event push was not affected as long as he was selling merchandise.
Jey Uso won the men’s Royal Rumble match of 2025
He shocked the entire world he won the men’s Royal Rumble match and earned the right to challenge Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 41, and here is where he started to receive massive backlash from the fans. Speaking with WrestleMania 41 Saturday Post-Show, he talked about this criticism;

Jey Uso defeated Gunther to win the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 41
"No man, cause I always just wanted to be a tag team wrestler with my twin brother ... once you start to progress and see different doors open Uce, you want to take advantage of them opportunities and it's been hard, long road." he said. "We the last of a dying breed, that's what I think, it's damn near live theatrics, one shot, one take, live TV. So I take pride in all that man, all my brothers and sisters, everyone who put on today, the behind the scenes, we're all a big family to be honest."

Jey Uso’s match against Gunther at WrestleMania 41 was his final chance to shut his haters but once again, the match was quite disappointing. Gunther; who was famous for producing five star matches could not even carry this match to being perfect. But Jey is still pretty much over with the fans and all we can expect is a proper main event level improvement in the near future.
