WWE created history last Monday when they made their OTT debut through Netflix. The first episode of RAW of Netflix was excellent as the show featured some amazing matches and segments. Some of the legends like The Rock and The Undertaker also made surprise appearances during the show that excited the fans even more.
Another legend that appeared during the show was Hulk Hogan who promoted the partnership of WWE and Netflix. But surprisingly, he got X-Pac heat from the audience. Hogan tried to cope up with the audience through his promo but nobody was willing to listen to him anyway.
WWE Hall of Famer Discusses Hulk Hogan Getting Negative Reaction at Netflix RAW Premiere and Explains The Possibilities
A number of wrestling legends already talked about this negative reaction from the fans on Hulk Hogan, including WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry. ‘The World’s Strongest Man’ recently discussed this incident where he discussed why the fans may have booed Hogan so much. Speaking with TMZ, the former World Heavyweight Champion explained;
Hulk Hogan was the face of WWE during The Golden Era
“I mean, that’s arguable. Any time that you consider the ‘Mount Rushmore’ and the top ten of [all-time pro wrestlers], Hogan is always going to be in that [group]. But right now with the social climate and the things that he’s said and done, and the lack of effort to try to fix it, people are going to come down on it,” Henry explained.
Hulk Hogan was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005
“I never had an issue with him before I heard all of the stuff. But even then, I believe in giving second chances. Anybody that knows me knows I’m a fix-it person. I’m not going to dwell on the negative. I’m not going to talk about the past, we’re going forward,” Henry said. “And he never wanted to go forward and fix it. So that’s what happens when you think that everything is going to go away. It’s not going to go away.”
Hulk Hogan had many allegations by his name throughout his life. From being a selfish wrestler to a racist who used the controversial N word many times. In the world of internet, this backlash is not much shocking. There are even rumors that Hogan may start appearing in WWE as a heel, but at the age of 71, it doesn’t seem much needed anymore.
