Daniel Bryan was indeed the most over wrestler of WWE during his prime time in the promotion. The WWE Universe started a Revolt against their favorite promotion in support of Bryan which was pretty uncommon. Many wrestlers earned a lot of success in WWE but the support of the fans that Bryan kissed during his prime was unparalleled.
He was introduced to the WWE Universe as a participant in the inaugural NXT tournament that was held back in 2010. After the end of the tournament, he started working regularly on the main roster of WWE much like the other NXT participants. WWE "Got Mad at" Daniel Bryan For Not Quitting! - Shocking Claim Made By The WWE Hall of Famer!
Despite being the most popular name of his time in WWE, he would not work actively in the promotion as he always suffered from multiple injuries. The injury issue of Bryan had been the biggest enemy of his professional wrestling career. He could have definitely been the face of WWE instead of Roman Reigns but his body always backstabbed him.
Daniel Bryan had been a four times WWE World Champion
Despite the difficulties in his career, Bryan always fought back against his hardest injuries and he even came back from his career threatening injury to capture the WWE championship again. WWE Hall of Famer Theodore Long recently revealed how WWE was mad at him for his desire to work with an injury. Speaking on a recent episode of the “Wrestling Time Machine” podcast, he revealed;
Daniel Bryan is presently active in AEW by the name Bryan Danielson
“Daniel Bryan wouldn’t quit. They got mad at him about that because he said he was okay when he wasn’t.” Long said. “Maybe you need to have a doctor on the scene at all times. Maybe they should have sent a doctor down, looked at him right away immediately, and let that doctor decide whether he should continue or not.”
After Bryan returned from his career threatening injury in 2017, he turned heel and won the WWE Championship but he could not be rebuilt as the face of the promotion despite his huge fan support previously. He was still pretty much over with the fans but the idea that he was the wrestler of the fans was totally gone. He is presently active in AEW.
