Royal Rumble 2025 mostly met with mixed reviews among the fans and the critics. Much like the previous years, WWE organized Royal Rumble matches; one for men and the other one for women. The men's Royal Rumble match of 2025 will be remembered for producing one of the most shocking winners in Royal Rumble history. When there were predictions that either John Cena or CM Punk would win the Rumble, Jey Uso shocked the entire world by winning it.
The women's Rumble match on the other hand was arguably the most predictable Rumble match in history. Throughout 2024 WWE could not build any proper name who could be a worthy contender for the Royal Rumble. Earlier reports claimed that Charlotte Flair would win the Rumble match of this year and she was also the odds on favorite.
Wrestling Legend Makes Shocking Statement on The Royal Rumble Win of Charlotte Flair
Ultimately WWE did not put any effort in the women's Rumble match and it was won by Flair, just like the reports suggested. This victory was not very much accepted positively by the fans as it mostly received vast criticism. Wrestling Legend Matt Hardy recently talked about the Royal Rumble win of Flair on his “The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy” podcast. Here is what he had to say;

“I’m okay with it. I mean, Charlotte is a major star. And the fact that she came back and won, it was really interesting. The next night after she won, I know there were some boos. There were some people that maybe rejected that because they wanted to see someone else who’d been there for a while doing it.

"But I totally get why they have Charlotte win. I mean, in some ways, that’s why I predicted John Cena, I could see John Cena winning. And I think you’re probably in agreement with me, too. I think at Elimination Chamber, we probably will see John Cena get pushed in that direction. But I think putting Charlotte in a match like that is just great for the equity of the match because it makes it a big, big deal.”
Charlotte Flair received mostly negative reactions after she appeared on the weekly shows of WWE upon her Royal Rumble win. Despite she started working as a babyface every time she returned to action, by seeing the reaction from the fans, WWE decided to turn her heel. Additionally, it may not be official yet but there are strong reports that she will be facing the WWE Women's Champion Tiffany Stratton at WrestleMania 41.
