Scott Steiner is mostly notable among the WWE fans for his failed run in WWE during the early Ruthless Aggression Era. What most fans don’t remember was his successful tag team run along with his brother Ric Steiner from 1992 to 1994. The duo even won the WWE Tag Team titles two times.

Scott Steiner became a successful name in singles wrestling during his WCW run as he won multiple mid card WCW titles including the WCW World Heavyweight Championship one time. After the death of WCW, and WWE started the Ruthless Aggression Era, the promotion thought of bringing Steiner to WWE since he was extremely successful in WCW, much like what they did throughout the Attitude Era.

Steiner’s WWE return was promoted via multiple promo packages, it showed how much the promotion was valuing him. But ultimately, his WWE run was a massive failure. Despite being pushed as a main eventer, Steiner failed terribly. Recently, Steiner appeared on the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, where he explained his failure during the mentioned tenure;

“For the last, what, 20-some years, I’ve stumbled at least twice a day. I won’t fall, but I’ll trip because my foot doesn’t come all the way up. I wish I wouldn’t have had the drop foot when I was in WWE, but it is what it is.”

“I look back at my WWE career, and I can hardly even watch it. I went out there with a drop foot, you know? I mean, I didn’t even walk to the ring the same. I had a brace, taped it up—it was basically a cast—and it helped me a little bit.” Concluded the former WCW World Heavyweight Champion.

Scott Steiner's second WWE run was a failure

Soon upon his return to WWE in 2002, Steiner was instantly given a big boost of having a World Heavyweight title feud with Triple H. He had to back to back pay per view matches with Triple H but he could not win the title.

After this feud, his downfall in WWE and he could never gain his momentum back. WWE released him in 2004 and he never returned to the promotion until getting inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2022 along with his brother Ric Steiner.
