Jim Ross is one of the biggest names in the world of professional wrestling commentary. He has been active in the world of wrestling for five long decades and he has worked in major wrestling promotions like WWE and WCW. Wrestling fans still considered him one of the best commentators in wrestling history. He is presently active in AEW.
Recently, he remembered former WWE and TNA star Matt Morgan who had been a part of Smackdown during the early Ruthless Aggression Era. Vince McMahon wanted to push him as a top star as he always preferred tall and big wrestlers. He did not succeed in WWE despite trying to push him into the main roster. Ultimately he left the promotion in 2005 never to return.

Soon after leaving WWE, he transitioned to TNA wrestling where he achieved success. He even got to win the TNA Tag Team Championship two times. Former WWE commentator and WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross recently talked about Matt Morgan and explained why he did not succeed in WWE. Speaking on his Grilling JR podcast, Ross stated;

“Good kid, he’s always well-mannered, and he represents himself well, he was exactly what we were looking for, but at some point, you had to connect to the audience, and he didn’t—that was his issue. He looked like a great, good guy, but other than that, he just didn’t click.”

“He had the look, the intelligence, and sometimes all those intangibles—it just didn’t add up for whatever reason, and it’s unfortunate. But Matt was still a good kid, and it just didn’t work out for him.”
What a lot of fans forgot is that Morgan performed in India during TNA Wrestling and started their Indian branch named Ring Ka King. He even won the World Heavyweight Championship of Ring Ka King. In 2019 he stepped down from professional wrestling as he started a career in politics. He still makes guest appearances in different wrestling promotions.
