Jeff Hardy had been promoted as a tag team wrestler during the early days of his wrestling career. He was let go of the promotion in 2003 and when he returned to the promotion in 2006 and for the first time in his career he had been treated as a main event star in the promotion. He even won the WWE World Championship three times during this time period.
Hardy had a four year career in WWE during this time and he had an amazing career in WWE. He had some big feuds with some of the top stars over the title like CM Punk and Edge. But in 2010, WWE decided to let the Charismatic Enigma go despite his excellent record during his second run in the promotion.

He appeared on "Insight with Chris Van Vliet" recently where he discussed the reason behind his departure from WWE in 2021;

"When I left WWE in 2021, my dad had been real sick," Hardy said. "2017, right after we went back to WWE at Mania, that was probably around the time that he felt good for the last time before he slipped back into this dark depression. But yeah, I'd been taking care of him, and it was just bad to where he did not want to be here.

“He was ready to go. Our mom died at a young age, I was 10 when she passed away. So I've always told myself when he needs me, I'm going to take care of him. I just did everything I could to get him excited about life and all that stuff. So that's definitely when my drinking got carried away during those times that I've never really talked about."

In his final run in WWE, Jeff Hardy first worked as a tag team wrestler along with his brother Matt Hardy and later he worked as a mid card star. He won both of the mid card titles of WWE during his last run but at the end, he became a jobber who was chasing for the WWE 24/7 Championship. Ultimately, he was released from the promotion at the end of 2021.
