The Rock who is often regarded as ‘The People’s Champion’ appeared on Smackdown last night where he revealed the date and venue for WrestleMania 42. He also called out the Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes and gave him a proposal to be his champion, and he would make all of his dreams come true.
During this segment, Dwayne Johnson mentioned one of the biggest rivals of his wrestling career; Triple H, who is presently working as the Chief Content Officer of WWE. Triple H and Dwayne Johnson had multiple huge matches during the Attitude Era of WWE, and these two individuals had been bitter rivals during their prime.
The Rock Reveals His Present Connections with One of His Biggest Rivals of All Time
While talking to Cody Rhodes on Smackdown last night, Johnson mentioned Triple H and said that he still had a wealthy relationship with the Cerebral Assassin. Even during the Post Smackdown Press Conference, Johnson talked about on screen rival Triple H again and claimed that they are very close. Here is what he said about Triple H;
“Nick Khan and Triple H, as well. With those two guys in particular…wrestling is an interesting business to be in because, while it’s a big business, I also feel like you’ve got to love it. If you’re these C Suite Executives, you have to love the business. That’s what Triple H, loves this business. I’ve known him for a long time. We’ve done a lot of fun stuff together, a lot of crazy stuff. He’s doing a great job.

“I talk with him often. We’re very close. What I like about Triple H is that he’ll present me with something, I’ll like it, then we’ll chop it up, we’ll talk about it, and I’ll present him something else. Ultimately, what I love about Paul, by the way, it’s always been this way with Paul. Even back when we were wrestling every night together on the road. ‘Hey, let’s do something that’s never been done. Let’s do something that is unpredictable. Let’s do something that is bold.’
The Rock and Triple H had been bitter rivals during the Attitude Era
“Regarding tonight with the Final Boss and coming to Cody Rhodes and saying, ‘I want to make you bigger than The Rock and I want to provide you and make all your dreams come true and your baby’s baby’s babies, and legacy. I want to make it all come true.’

From 1996 to 2002, Triple H and The Rock shared the ring together for over 70 times. But unfortunately, the duo never had a match after August 2002. There had been rumors of a potential WrestleMania match between the duo, but that was nearly a decade ago, unfortunately, the duo can never have a match together since Triple H is retired from in ring action, and it is impossible for him to return in the ring ever again.
