CM Punk may have been one of the biggest names in the world of professional wrestling today but he is also one of the most criticized names in the wrestling world. After he left WWE in January 2014 he had to deal with massive criticism. He also had to face major backlash for his infamous AEW run.

Another wrestler came out with a big accusation for Punk recently. Former WWE star Shannon Moore claimed that it was Punk who squashed his WWE career. He was active in WWE during the Ruthless Aggression era and he was mostly treated as a jobber in the promotion. He reawakened in the promotion during the resurrection of ECW but once again he could not do anything special.

Shocking Accusation: Former WWE Star Blames CM Punk For Squashing His WWE Career

He transitioned to WWE from WCW much like many other stars. He was not a very big deal in WCW either but he managed to win the WCW Hardcore Championship one time. Recently, he appeared on the “Talk Is Jericho” podcast, where he remembered playing the character of Prince of Punk in ECW and how his character got ruined after the arrival of Punk. Here is what he had to say;

CM Punk joined WWE back in 2005

“I get back [to WWE] and they’re like, ‘We have this guy that we’re going to introduce, CM Punk. We want you to work with him.’ That’s when I started to work with him in ECW. Whenever they brought Punk in, they squashed my whole punk character because I had been calling myself the Prince of Punk. I had been doing that for six or seven months and they were about to bring Punk up.”

CM Punk is presently active in WWE RAW

“I had never heard of CM Punk. Then I was like, ‘Okay, I get it.’ Later on, I heard that Paul [Heyman] and them had seen my look and knew that I was calling myself the Prince of Punk, ‘There can only be one Punk.’ They made the right decision. Punk has made them millions of dollars and still makes them millions of dollars. It just sucks because it kind of got me down and out with wrestling. ‘Cut your mohawk, grow your hair back out.”

Moore had never been treated anything more than a jobber in WWE. But he could have survive a little longer in the promotion. He was released from his contract in August 2008 and he never returned to WWE after that. He had a short run in TNA Wrestling after his WWE departure where he could not find much success either. Presently he has been active on the independent circuit since 2012.
