The Uruguayan defender is not happy regarding his place in the squad, making him interested in hearing offers from other clubs in the winter transfer window. The strong comeback of Araujo made the Barca board think about retaining their defensive talent. "The important thing is that he feels like a player of the team and he must continue working to enter [the first XI]. We are very happy with him, and we'll see what happens in the future," Flick concluded.

Departure of Araujo will force Barca to sign a backup defender in January or Flick will have to work with existing options, i.e Christiansen and Eric Garcia to wait until the summer to get a better option in the market to replace the Uruguayan.
