“Ricky Steamboat, I mean the two greatest workers I’ve ever been in the ring with and are the best workers I’ve ever known are Shawn Michaels and Ricky Steamboat. Ricky never worked heel, you know it’s kind of like trying to make Jack Brisco a heal but Steamboat and Shawn to me are the two best I’ve ever been in the ring with.

One of the most iconic matches of Flair's career was also remembered as the farewell match of his WWE career. It was against Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 24, after this match, Flair announced in ring retirement. This is one of the most emotional matches in professional wrestling history, and it is still remembered for the two lines said by Shawn Michaels at the end of the match; " I'm sorry, I love you."
