Last year at the Money in the Bank event John Cena made a surprise appearance where he shocked the entire world by announcing his plans to retire by 2025. All of his fans were heartbroken after this news came out. He is only in his 40s and he could go for at least another decade. But he wants to focus on his Hollywood career at this moment.
At the Netflix RAW Premiere, Cena appeared directly after last year’s Money in The Bank appearance to start his retirement tour. He announced his participation in the men’s Royal Rumble match at the upcoming Royal Rumble in the hope of winning the Rumble match and challenging Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE title in the main event of WrestleMania 41.

Reports from PWInsider suggest that Cena is presently busy for the shooting of his upcoming movie ‘The Matchbox’ and he is in Budapest, Hungary, at least 7,000 kilometers away from the United States of America.

Cena is working full time in Hollywood right now and the fans cannot expect him to appear regularly throughout 2025 even if it is his final year in WWE. He will only work as a part timer much like Roman Reigns and Logan Paul. All focus of his retirement tour would be his quest for the 17th World title by which he can surpass ‘The Nature Boy’ Ric Flair’s record of 16 World title reigns.

Cena is presently the biggest favorite to win the men’s Royal Rumble match of 2025. By winning this match, he can touch the record that Stone Cold Steve Austin holds of winning the most Royal Rumble match which is three.
