There had been a constant demand of at least lower mid card championship ever since WWE European Championship and WWE Hardcore Championship died with the end of the Attitude Era. It had been more than two decades that the promotion could not build a proper division for the lower mid cards of the division.

In 2019, WWE finally decided to give the fans what they were begging for a long time; a lower mid card in the form of WWE 24/7 Championship. Earlier it was rumored to be something like the WWE hardcore title which was defended 24/7. The fans were really excited to finally get their long time wish granted.

But ultimately, the title became nothing but a pure comedy segment and everyone could win it, even those who are not wrestlers. R Truth had a memorable time while this title existed as he won it for a record number of 53 times. The title may have been defunct now, but it is still remembered.

R Truth is a 53 times WWE 24/7 champion

Truth recently appeared on the “Insight with Chris Van Vliet” podcast where he remembered his best memories while holding this title; “Everybody said it was ugly, yeah. I made it beautiful. I made them accept the [ugly] baby, right?. I went all in. You gotta’ go all in. Can’t go half way. I had fun, I was able to throw a lot of creative in there. The numbers that it was doing were ridiculous, like 15-20 million views a week.” Said Truth.

He continued; “Did you know Forbes magazine did a write up about it? Google that. Forbes magazine did a write up about the 24/7 title and the numbers it was doing. So the numbers it was doing were an incentive, it was a booster for me. The plane was good [with Jinder Mahal], Drake’s [Maverick] wedding was good, that was his real wedding, that was funny.” concluded R Truth.

With constant criticism and hate, Triple H decided to take it down soon after he became the creative in charge of WWE in 2022. The void of the lower mid card division is yet to be filled and there are strong beliefs that Triple H may finally introduce something meaningful in the form of a lower mid card title, much like he introduced the Women’s US and IC title to build the women’s mid card division strongly.
