WWE Hall of Famer Paul Heyman recently remembered his involvement in the epic Roman Reigns vs. John Cena rivalry from 2021. It was one of the biggest rivalries of the year despite the duo had only one match together. Cena returned at Money in the Bank 2021 to challenge Roman Reigns at Summerslam 2021.
The build up of this feud remained quite popular among the fans mostly because of some of the promos that John Cena cut. At the end, Cena was beaten by The Tribal Chief at Summerslam 2021. After the match, Brock Lesnar appeared to start his historic final feud with Roman Reigns that continued for a complete long year.

During the build up of the feud between Cena and Reigns, Paul Heyman had an angle with Cena in an episode of Smackdown where Heyman mocked the 16 times WWE World Champion by singing his song. It is registered as one of the funniest moments in WWE history. Speaking on Logan Paul’s “Impaulsive” podcast, Heyman remembered;

“The funny thing is, and I love John Cena, I went up to John and I said, ‘I expect you to tear into us.’ He goes, ‘That’s a good expectation.’ I said, ‘Would you like to know my retort?’ ‘No.’ ‘My retort is a little unconventional.’ He goes, ‘Great. I’ll react to it naturally out there.’ I said, ‘You sure you don’t want to know this?’ ‘Nope. You can’t see me and I can’t hear you right now,’ and he walked away.”

“He dug into us and dug into us, and I’m just like [mocks Cena’s theme] and I walk away. He comes to the back and he’s laughing his a*s off, tearing up. Reaction-wise, because he’s so great, he reacted perfectly to it.” Concluded the WWE Hall of Famer.
This was one of the rarest moments that almost broke Cena’s character. There are only few wrestlers who could do it. Santino Marella broke Cena in a comedy segment before, but Heyman’s segment with Cena was supposed to be a serious one, yet, Heyman did what he is best at. Looking back at the segment, anyone can understand that Cena was trying hard to control his laughter.
