Mercedes Mone was famously known as Sasha Banks in WWE and she was one of the top stars of the promotion during her time. She had been a six times WWE Tag Team Champion, and also a three times WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion. But in 2022, she decided to walk out of the promotion.
Mone joined AEW in early 2024 and she had been booked pretty strongly ever since. Only after a month of her AEW debut, she challenged Willow Nightingale for the AEW TBS Championship. She defeated Nightingale to win the title and it also was her first title win in AEW.

Despite earning great success in AEW, WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff believes Mone’s AEW tenure had been a ‘disaster.’ He shared his view by saying Tony Khan failed to book the former six times WWE Women’s Champion properly. Speaking on his 83 Weeks Podcast, the former WCW boss said;
"Mercedes Mone is not old, she's relatively young, she was a massive star in WWE, massive, and she came to AEW and it's been an unmitigated disaster because of her creative and because Tony doesn't know how to produce her," Bischoff said, "In WWE she was protected because people understood what her strengths were, but more importantly, understood what her weakness were and they produced her accordingly."

"Because Tony Khan is clueless and he has zero experience and no feel or instinct whatsoever for the television industry, he brought this megastar in from WWE, who's not over-the-hill and old, who was an established superstar and, again, abject failure," Bischoff continued. "It's the creative and Tony's inability to produce compelling television."
Mercedes Mone is Currently Holding The AEW TBS Championship
Bischoff previously worked in AEW during the early days of the promotion as a non wrestling personnel but his tenure in the promotion was short and not much successful. Bischoff has mostly been critical of Tony Khan’s work and he expressed his views multiple times.
