Manchester United has completed the deal for 20-year-old winger Patrick Dogru as the first signing after appointing Ruben Amorim. Despite having numerous news regarding forward signing, Amorim prefers the Denmark international as his first choice.
Manchester United News: Who Is Dogru? Could The First Signing In The Ruben Amorim Era From Leece Change The Situation At Old Trafford?
Man United made an agreement with Leece regarding the permanent transfer for Patrick Dogru for €35m including add-ons and the player is ready to complete medicals in Old Trafford this week.
The deal is record-breaking from the Leeece side as they have an expensive sell record of Morten Hjulmand with a fee of €19.5m and now the Italian side has made nearly double the money. The league rivals of the club, Juventus and Napoli were interested in the deal but Management considered to sell him in England as a better prospect. The question is what is the reason that made the Red Devil invest money in him?
Does Nkunku deal got hampered with the deal?
The potential of Dogru that attracted the Manchester United scout team
The Danish International joined Lecce from Nordsjælland in 2022 at the youth level. His career experience is based on Serie A and the winger made 53 appearances in this league in the last two seasons of which 21 came in this season.
Dogru has started 95% of the matches with Lecce and played almost 93% of the official minutes of the club which shows the importance of the player in the club. He made his impact on the national team by scoring a goal in his first appearance against Switzerland in the Nations League providing a 1-0 lead where Denmark won by 2-0.
In this season, the 20-year-old has contributed to 3 goals and 1 assist in four matches and showed phenomenal skill and strength in the wing position with a versatility of playing in left back, left mid, and both wings. It can perfectly fit him in Manchester United as there is a lack of left-footed winger that can match Amorim’s play style.
Role that Dogru Could Play in Old Trafford Under Amorim
Dogru started his career as a left-back and showed his versatility in the play position and ability to score goals in the 2024-25 season making him clinch the right-wing position. This versatility could help Ruben Amorim to put the gap in left wing-back position.
Amorim plays with a 3-4-2-1 position but due to the fitness issues of Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia the left wing-back position is often covered by Noussair Mazraoui or Diogo Dlaot who are not left-footed players. The out-of-position playing hampering the left-wing attacks which could be solved by Dogru who can perfectly fit in the wingback position of Amorim.
Amad Diallo is a left-footed player but he is more attack-minded and in the system of amorim wingback often needs to contribute to the defence that the Danish international is capable of. It would be interesting to see how the young winger could deliver in the competitive league in England under Ruben Amorim.
