Man City has asked Pep Guardiola regarding the need for Tchouameni for the squad to compete in the Premier League.
The addition of Tchoumeni can cause difficulties for Pep in choosing a starter after Rodri's return
Manchester City is considering Tchouameni to replace Rodri who has been injured for a longer period. So, Pep needs a proper defensive midfielder to make an interlink in defense with De Bruyne and Silva.

The question arises, will Ancelotti leave his regular starter in the mid-season when he already has a lack of defenders? It is unlikely to happen due to the poor defensive depth of Los Blancos which might create difficulties for City to convince Real Madrid of this deal.
