Kobe Mainoo scored his first goal of the season for Manchester United against FSCB in the Europa League and assisted the first goal of Dalot in the game making him the impact player for Red Devils.
Kobe Mainoo Is Going To Get A Surprising Role After The Europa League Match As Amorim Wants To Give Him “More Freedom With Not Much Responsibility”
After the match, Mainoo is getting more highlights as an attacking player than a defensive player where he made several mistakes in retrieving the ball or breaking the opponent's line. Against FSBC the Englishman had a free role to play near the box and press the opponent's defender which he did exceptionally well.
Amorim deployed Mainoo as one of the two central midfielders in 3-4-2-1 with more responsibility to regain the ball and break opponents' attacks through interception and tackle. But the Portuguese boss gave him a more attacking role, retrieving Bruno Fernandez in a more central role that actually worked and unleashed the attacking ability of the 19-year-old.

Amorim Intends to Give Greater Freedom to Mainoo to Unleash His Game
The new role gives more freedom to the midfielder to attack opponent's defense and make important runs off the ball that his national teammate Jude Bellingham plays for Madrid. Amorim said, “I think Kobbie Mainoo in that position played very well, he had more freedom with not much responsibility running back all the time.”
The Manchester boss gave Mainoo the role after observing his struggle to defend a midfielder and intended to shift him up on the pitch. Amorim said in a press conference, “As a 10 he was so free playing the ball near the box. We need time to work with the players to understand what the best position is for them.”
Mainoo's New Role Could be a Gamechanger for the Portuguese boss
The expression of Amorim in the conference showed his satisfaction regarding the tactics and performance of boys. He stated “We controlled the game very well. We had more possession.” Now it will be interesting to see how Mainoo is being treated in upcoming games. Will there be a chance for him to become an attacking-minded midfielder or will Ruben give him back his previous role in the team?
