John Cena had been the face of WWE for more than a decade and he was the biggest attraction of the promotion during the latter Ruthless Aggression Era and the entire PG Era of the promotion. He also had been a 16 times World Champion in WWE which is the highest number of World titles tied with ‘The Nature Boy’ Ric Flair.
Last year during the Money in the Bank event, Cena revealed that he will retire from in ring action by the end of 2025. He started his retirement tour at the Netflix RAW Premiere where he made his intensions clear that he wanted to compete in the 17th World title to beat Ric Flair’s record and also complete his professional wrestling career.

He entered the men’s Royal Rumble match so that he could earn the right to challenge a World Champion at WrestleMania 41, but Jey Uso eliminated him last to win the match. He will also enter the Elimination Chamber to earn the opportunity to challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at the Grandest Stage of Them All.

Two times WWE Hall of Famer Booker T shared praise for Cena while speaking with TMZ Sports recently. He said; “[John Cena will be remembered as] the man who took what he had, made the best out of it, and took it all the way to the top. That’s how John’s going to be remembered. He wasn’t the best wrestler in the world or anything like that. I always talk about that.”

Booker T continued; “You know, as far as John Cena goes, and it’s not out of disrespect or anything like that, but John Cena, he knew how to go out and do — I always talk to my students, I say, ‘There’s no wrong way of doing it, as long as you do it right. That’s John Cena.”

Reports suggest that Cena is signed for a total of 36 appearances throughout 2025 which clearly shows that he will almost work as a full timer during his retirement tour. Reports also suggest that Cena will be victorious in the men’s Elimination Chamber match and will challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 41.
