Last year at the Money in The Bank event, the 16 times WWE World Champion John Cena made a shocking announcement that he would be retiring by 2025. He appeared at the Netflix RAW Premiere where he started his retirement tour. There had been a constant demand from the fans of a final World title reign for Cena before he retires.
This demand was raised by the fans since Cena had been a 16 times World Champion, tied with Ric Flair's record of same number of title reigns. A large number of WWE fans want Cena to break the record of Flair bhai becoming a 17 times WWE World Champion.
John Cena Has a Problem with The Phrase "Finishing The Story?" The Former Champion Explains The Reason
Cena himself addressed this demand of the fans during his Netflix RAW premiere speech, where he expressed his own desire to win the 17th World title. So hi officially declared is participation in the men's Royal Rumble match at the upcoming Royal Rumble event. But he does not want his quest for this last reign to be addressed as "Finishing the Story." During the last "Raw" post-show press conference, The Champ explained;

"I don't like the term 'finishing the story' because there's always another night," he explained. "If anybody's story is getting finished this year, it's mine, because I'm going to be done after this year. I think it was Cody's way to say, 'I'm going to get this done and I'm going to do it.' So, anybody who says they're going to do it, does it, and does it well, I've got to tip my cap to them."

"So, when you're extra tired or maybe if you need some extra strength to hold on to that top rope so your feet don't hit the floor, knowing that it's your last, you take a different perspective on some," Cena said. "So I'm hoping that gives me the energy to get me a ticket to WrestleMania." stated Cena.
The phrase "Finishing the Story" has recently been so popular among the WWE fans after the storyline of Cody Rhodes and this phrase is being used on almost every occasion where such an angle is involved. There is definitely nothing wrong in it and it also signifies the importance of the storyline of Cody Rhodes. But John Cena want to create things on his own way, he does not want to finish his story but start a new story.
