Last Saturday, WWE organized one of their biggest shows of the year which was Royal Rumble. Much like the previous years, this year’s Royal Rumble event also hosted two Rumble matches; one for men and the other one for women. Some of the biggest names on the roster participated in both Rumble matches.
The men’s Royal Rumble match showed some huge names working together at the same time. One of those big names was Roman Reigns. He had a strong 37 minute run in this match with four eliminations listed by his name. But he was eliminated by CM Punk along with his bitter rival Seth Rollins simultaneously.

After the match, Rollins hit a Curb Stomp on Reigns’ head through the steel steps. Reports suggest that he will be out of action for a number of weeks with a kayfabe injury. But why did he have to be sidelined from action at this point when WrestleMania 41 is edging nearer and he is reported to have a huge match at the mentioned event?

Reports from Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter suggest that they decided to sideline him from action so that he could remain out of the Elimination Chamber since there is no plan for The Original Tribal Chief is win the men’s Elimination Chamber match. Here is what Meltzer wrote;
Roman Reigns was attacked by Seth Rollins after his Royal Rumble elimination
“They did a storyline injury angle with Rollins curb stomping Reigns on the steps and they announced Reigns would be out of action indefinitely. This was to keep Reigns out of the Chamber since he wasn’t winning it anyway and thus would have to be pinned, and WWE never has its top faces (Rhodes or Reigns) lose via pin unless there is a major storyline reason directly stemming from the pin to do so.”
According to reports from multiple media sources, WWE is planning a huge triple threat match between Roman Reigns, CM Punk, and Seth Rollins, which was already teased at Royal Rumble. Additionally, there are even reports that the winner of this match will join the Undisputed WWE Championship match in the main event of WrestleMania 41.
