Cody Rhodes created history at WrestleMania 40 when he defeated Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Championship and ended his 1300+ days of championship reign. He has been carrying the title since then and he is doing a pretty good job. Despite criticism for his title reign, he received praise for delivering great matches too.
He is also expected to carry the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 41 with a number of big names being rumored to be his opponent at the grandest stage of them all already. From The Rock to Randy Orton, from Kevin Owens to Roman Reigns, multiple names have been rumored.
Huge Update: WrestleMania 41 Opponent of Cody Rhodes Potentially Revealed!
Now, a new name has been reported to be the opponent of Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41 who definitely fits in the line with the previous rumored names. According to reports from Fightful Select, the former 16 WWE World Championship John Cena was also considered a potential opponent for Cody at the Showcase of the Immortals.

Fightful Select reported that Cena vs. Rhodes was almost certain until mid November but after The Rock was reported to be available for WrestleMania 41, this match became quite uncertain. Reports suggest that the original plans for WrestleMania 41 is Cody vs, The Rock which was also teased following WrestleMania 40.

So either of these two matches is pretty much expected to be featuring on the main event of WrestleMania 41. John Cena is scheduled to start his retirement tour at the Netflix RAW Premiere where he may announce his plans to participate in the men’s Royal Rumble match.
