The stage for his retirement is also set; it is going to be WrestleMania 41. But there was no confirmation what would be his potential at the event.
But there had been multiple rumors about the possibility of his WrestleMania 41 match. Some fans loved to believe that he would attempt to get the Intercontinental Championship so that he could become a Grand Slam Champion. There are also beliefs that he may face the greatest rival of his career; Randy Orton on his farewell match.

But the most favored rumor for Cena’s WrestleMania 41 match had been the possible 17th World title win to surpass the record of Ric Flair. This Monday, Cena made his return to WWE to start his retirement tour where he was expected to announce what he had been planning to do at WrestleMania 41.
Cena said that it may not be possible for him to win his 17th World title at this stage of his career, but he can challenge for the World Championship at WrestleMania 41 if he gets to win the Royal Rumble match this February 1. He then officially became a part of the men’s Royal Rumble match;

John Cena is heavily rumored to win the Royal Rumble match to challenge either Roman Reigns or Gunther for a World Championship at WrestleMania 41. He will create history if he wins the Royal Rumble as it will be his 3rd Royal Rumble win. He will become the second ever wrestler to win three Royal Rumble matches. Stone Cold Steve Austin was the first and only wrestler so far to win three Royal Rumble matches.
