Randy Orton has been out of action since October 2024 after he was brutally attacked by his former on screen friend Kevin Owens. Once KO turned heel later last year, he became quite ruthless and he also brought back the controversial move Pile Driver which took a number of wrestlers out of action, including ‘The Legend Killer.’
Owens and Orton were scheduled to have a match at the Crown Jewel event of 2024 but the match could never start as the duo started fighting before the bell rang and they could not be separated. Following this event, the duo fought again on Smackdown and this time Owens’ attack on Orton was so brutal that it sidelined him from action.

‘The Viper’ is still out of action but he is rumored to make his return soon and he is also heavily rumored to challenge Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 41. But how WWE would book the return and how he should go after Owens? WWE Hall of Fame Bubba Ray Dudley recently shared a bold pitch on the “Busted Open Radio” podcast on this subject. He said;

“If Randy Orton gets involved in a match between Kevin and Sami in Canada, what kind of reaction is that going to get? You think Canadian wrestling fans are going to be pissed off that Randy took Kevin out of the match?”
Dudley continued, “Imagine Kevin is beating the s**t out of Sami with a chair on the floor right, and enough is enough and somebody has to do something about it … he’s about to give him the package piledriver on the announce table, Randy Orton’s music hits. Randy will get the pop for making that save, but you have to set it up the right way, that people won’t be mad that Randy’s coming in on a Canadian.”

Orton was heavily rumored to return to WWE during the Royal Rumble event as a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble match but that did not happen. Presently, there are strong rumors that he may return at the upcoming Elimination Chamber where Kevin Owens is scheduled to face Sami Zayn in an Unsanctioned match. Orton could return during or after this match.
