Google today unveiled its newest Pixel phone in India, over two years after the last model. The mid-range Pixel 6a, which was first introduced at Google I/O 2022 in May of this year, has made its India debut and is packing some intriguing specs. The Google Pixel 6a features the same design as its flagship Pixel 6 siblings, as you may already be aware. The front of the phone has a punch-hole selfie camera in the centre, a dual-tone colour scheme, and a camera visor that spans its entire width. The rear panel is plastic, but the frame is still aluminium, much like the Pixel 6.
In comparison to the 90Hz refresh rate enabled by the Pixel 6 series, the Pixel 6a's 6.1-inch Full-HD+ OLED display has a conventional 60Hz refresh rate. A 2400 x 1080p resolution, HDR, and Gorilla Glass 3 protection are all supported by the panel.
The first-generation Tensor chipset from Google, which is based on a 5nm technology node, is the highlight of the Pixel 6a. The chipset also has 4 Cortex-A55 cores running at 1.80 GHz, 2 Cortex-A76 cores running at 2.25 GHz, and 2 Cortex-X1 cores running at 2.80 GHz. In addition, the Titan M2 security chip and SA/NSA 5G capabilities are included, along with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage.
When compared to the Pixel 6, the Pixel 6a's cameras are inferior. A 12.2MP primary camera with OIS and a second 12MP camera for taking ultra-wide pictures are included. The front has a punch-hole with an 8MP selfie camera.
A 4,410mAh battery with 18W fast charging capabilities powers the gadget. The Pixel 6a ships with Android 12 but will be among the first devices to receive the Android 13 update. Google guarantees that the Pixel 6a will receive at least three significant Android OS updates and five years' worth of security patches.
The phone also has dual-SIM compatibility, IP67 water and dust resistance, Wi-Fi 6/ 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, dual speakers, USB Type-C, and an in-display fingerprint scanner. Along with the Pixel 6a, Google has also released the Pixel Buds Pro in India for Rs 19,990. Beginning on July 28, they will be sold on Flipkart.
Price and Availability
The price of the Google Pixel 6a in India is Rs 43,999 for a single 6GB+128GB configuration. On Axis Bank credit cards and EMI purchases, you can, however, immediately save Rs 4,000 as part of a restricted promotion. Starting today, you can pre-order the gadget for for Rs 39,999. Flipkart will begin taking orders on July 28.
