WWE hosted the Elimination Chamber event last Saturday and much like the past years, there had been two Chamber matches; one for women and the other one for men. The outcomes of the two matches had been quite predictable but the final segment of the night left the whole wrestling world completely spellbound.

Cody Rhodes was confronted by The Rock who proposed to him to become the corporate champion by selling his soul. But Cody declined the move. There were rumors that Cody Rhodes might turn heel at the Elimination Chamber, but the climax of the show shocked the entire world as it was John Cena who turned heel.

Cena had been a babyface for more than twenty one years and as he is closing in on his in ring retirement, it was even more surprising to see him turning heel at this stage of his career. Two times WWE Hall of Famer Booker T recently talked about Cena’s heel turn while speaking on his “Hall of Fame” Podcast. Here is what he had to say;

John Cena won the men’s Elimination Chamber match of 2025

"I love it man," said the five WCW World Heavyweight Champion. "It's just what wrestling is. When you think you've figured it out, and they throw you another curveball, like this one right here. Everybody [thought] 'John Cena's going to come back and win the title.'

“That's what everybody was thinking about. 'John Cena's going to win the Chamber and, you know, go on and break the record.' I think that's still the story, not John Cena turning heel to actually get that...but nah man. I love what wrestling is man. When you think you've got it all figured out, they throw you a curveball."

It has already been confirmed that Cena will retire at the end of this year and the last WrestleMania ever is also going to be his first WrestleMania ever where he will be working as a heel. This is definitely going to be a hell of an experience. There is also a question of whether Cena will remain a heel throughout this year.
