Over the years, the Royal Rumble had been the biggest event of WWE to bring back stars and also present debuts. Every year, the fans wait for this event mostly for the surprises which never fail to deliver. But with rosters getting more and more stacked, surprise entrants, mostly guest appearances become more unlikely.
But returns and debuts can still be expected which has also been a big part of the Royal Rumble event. This year, not many surprises are rumored for the show, but fans are expecting some surprises since Rumble is the biggest stage to plant such surprises. Almost every year, WWE does something special to shock the fans, this year may not be any different.
Former WWE Champion Potentially Returning at Royal Rumble as a Surprise Entrant?
Former WWE star Zack Ryder who is presently going by the name Matt Cardona recently talked about a potential return to WWE through the Rumble match of 2025. Ryder was not seen in WWE for nearly five years and a potential return of the former WWE United States champion can be expected. Speaking on “The MMA Hour” podcast recently, Ryder discussed potentially being a surprise entrant in the Rumble match;
Royal Rumble 2025 is Scheduled on February 1
“There’s been communication but no offer in any way. Listen, every year, I’ve had gear ready for the Royal Rumble [laughs], every year. I always have it just in case. You never know. I have it just in case [for this year]. Well, I’ve had it for the past couple years [laughs]. It still fits. I will be there for WrestleCon. I’m gonna be there anyway [laughs]. I’ll probably have the gear because I’m always ready.”
Matt Cardona is rumored to return at Royal Rumble
Ryder was also asked why he has not been offered anything from WWE yet; “I do not know. There’s been communication, very cordial, but there’s been no offer, and that’s fine. I can’t live my life like, ‘Oh ‘My God, are they gonna call me back?’ But if they do, I’m always ready. I’ve worked my a*s for five years to reinvent myself. I truly believe that I have changed the game.”

Ryder was one of the victims of the covid-19 pandemic and it has been nearly 5 years since he left the promotion.
