The latest mainline console from Nintendo that is Nintendo Switch 2 is coming out this summer and a lot of exclusives have already been announced for this upcoming console. One of the biggest exclusives that has already been announced for the console is Duskbloods which is heavily rumored to be the much awaited sequel of Bloodborne.
It has been announced that Switch 2 is coming out on June 5, 2025. But there had been questions on why it is actually coming out in Summer and not earlier. In a recent interview with NPR, Doug Bowser who is the president of Nintendo of America revealed the reason. Here is what he had to say;
Why Nintendo is bringing Nintendo Switch 2 this Summer
“We like to think that the year is a year and that there are no specific time frames when you should or must launch video games. And so, as we looked at the games that we had prepared and were ready to launch with the hardware, we thought June was a very good timing.
"It’s the start of the summer season, and obviously, with a Nintendo Switch 2, you have a device that you can both play at home and play at home docked like a gaming console, or you can take it out of the dock and take it on the go. So it’s a perfect game for summer travel.”
Nintendo’s first home console of Famicom/NES
The first proper home console of Nintendo which was Famicom came out back in 1983 in Japan. With its immense success in Japan, an American version of Famicom was released in America in 1984 as Nintendo Entertainment System aka NES. It was a massive success and it also saved the dying video game industry.
Nintendo Switch 2 is scheduled to be released on June 5th, 2025
In the following years, Nintendo kept upgrading its consoles. In November 1990, they released Super Nintendo Entertainment System aka SNES which was even a bigger hit than NES. In 1996, another upgraded version was released in the form of Nintendo 64.

In 2001, Nintendo GameCube hit the scene which competing with Microsoft’s Xbox and Sony’s PlayStation 2. In 2006, they brought in Nintendo Wii which had been one of the highest selling consoles ever. Nintendo’s latest console in the market in Nintendo Switch which is about to get replaced by Nintendo Switch 2 by June 5th.
