There were a number of wrestlers that Vince McMahon wanted to push as top stars. One of them was Elias who was also known as Elias Samson in the NXT. He did not have a very strong run in the NXT under Triple H but after making his main roster debut, Vince McMahon started pushing him as a regular mid card star.

He had a decent run on the main roster as he received regular bookings in the main roster under Vince McMahon. His appearances with the guitar while talking and singing became quite popular among the fans back then. Despite he could never win any mainstream championships in WWE, it always looked like McMahon had something big planned for him.

After the departure of Vince McMahon, he lost his push completely and Triple H never saw him anything more than a jobber. Triple H treated him as a jobber in the NXT as well and after he became in charge of the main roster, he started treating him as a jobber once again. Finally, he was released from the promotion in September 2023. Recently the 37 year old attended a “K&S WrestleFest” signing where he discussed a potential return to WWE. He also talked about his WWE run;

Elias is a four times WWE 24/7 Champion

“I thought it was awesome, a lot of great stuff. I had a lot of incredible, very memorable moments for me personally and probably for a lot of people. I loved it. Elias can and could and should do so much more in WWE. They only scratched the surface with my capabilities. I had a lot of great moments, some incredible guys to go up against.”

Elias is presently active on the Independent Circuit

“I’d love that. Look, you see how the business works by now. You could be gone, Carlito was gone for ten years, look at Drew [McIntyre]. These things happen, for sure. Everybody has their own little story. I’m not writing it off. It’s not an immediate ‘Man, I gotta do that.’ But if the opportunities come up, sure, we’ll see.”

Vince McMahon may have treated him as a potential top star but he could never win any mainstream championships in WWE. Be only Championship he could win in the promotion was the WWE 24/7 title, which was available to everyone. Presently he has been active on the independent circuit since January 2024. Even if he returns to WWE in the near future, it is doubtful that Triple H would ever treat him anything more than a jobber.
