WrestleMania 2000 may not be regarded as one of the best WrestleMania events out there but there was one match that is always worth mentioning. Despite being a premier Attitude Era WrestleMania event, the show is considered one of the worst WrestleManias in the history of WWE. Big stars like Stone Cold Steve Austin and the Undertaker were missing from this event reasons behind its failure.

But there was one match that stole the show that night. It was a triple threat Tag Team Championship ladder match where three of the top teams of the Attitude Era; Edge & Christian, The Dudley Boyz, and The Hardy Boyz were involved. The Dudley Boyz entered the event as the champion, however, Edge and Christian won the Championship.

D Von Dudley Remembers WrestleMania 2000 Ladder Match and Discusses its Impact

This iconic match is still remembered as one of the best Tag Team ladder matches in WWE history. It always remained an example for the upcoming younger talent on how to perform in a perfect ladder match. One of the involved wrestlers in this match was D Von Dudley recently looked back at this match while speaking on “Six Feet Under” podcast of The Undertaker. Here is what D Von Dudley had to say;

D-Von Dudley is a Tag Team Specialist

“It was the original first TLC match, but it was called a ladder match. But we were able to do that and then once we did that — I just remember the stakes were high because you know, we were in WrestleMania, with Taker, with Rock, with Big Show. All these big names, Austin, all these big names. And now, if we s**t the bed on this, we’ll never be invited again.”

D Von Dudley also talked about how he wanted Dudleys to evolve further; “The Dudleys were basically the Dudleys from the beginning of the ECW [when they first joined WWE] where Bubba was stuttering and dancing and things like that. Now we didn’t want to do that.

"We had already evolved from that. So we were basically trying to come into the Dudleys that you saw later on and he is in WWE. Vince was a big fan of the stuttering and the dancing. You know, it’s entertaining and that’s what Vince likes. So that’s what we were doing.”concluded D Von Dudley.

This was the first ever ladder match in WWE where more than two teams were involved. It was also the first ever ladder match in WWE which was a triple threat contest. Next year at WrestleMania X-Seven, WWE came back with another iconic idea of Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match where all the mentioned teams were involved. Once again, The Dudleys entered the event as the champions, as Edge and Christian walked out as the champions.
