Ever since Cody Rhodes came back to WWE at WrestleMania 38, he had been presented as a main event star. WWE took two long years to build him as the face of the promotion and the one to dethrone Roman Reigns. At WrestleMania 40, he defeated the Head of The Table to take his World title away and dethrone him by ending his 1300+ days title reign.
There had been a constant criticism after he won the World title since a large number of fans believe that it was a pretty lackluster title reign and also quite boring. With the recent involvement of Kevin Owens, things are getting a little exciting, but still, it is all so predictable.
Cody Rhodes To Stop Working Full Time? The Champion Shares Future Plans
Fans argued that the way he was built before winning the title, it is pretty much guaranteed that he will not drop the title in any stage apart from WrestleMania. This is the reason WWE should not build any title feud in this way. But there are certain beliefs too that Cody will definitely deliver a fun championship run soon. There had been a constant demand of potential heel turn as well.
Cody Rhodes may have been doing a great job at the age of 39 but is there any plans of working as a part timer like a lot of names nowadays? Recently, the Undisputed WWE Champion spoke to the “2 Bears, 1 Cave” podcast where he asked if he has such plans. Here is what he had to say on this topic;
Cody Rhodes won the WWE Championship at WrestleMania XL
“Well, 39 now, I’d say my contract is running till I don’t want to wrestle full time, definitely, past 45 okay. Drop-in? For sure. Keep myself in shape.” Said the present WWE Undisputed Champion.
He continued, “I would love to tell stories like we do in the ring, in a different fashion. I would absolutely love, love to do [movies], but I’ve always been so linked into wrestling and coming back to WWE, where winning the championship for WWE is essentially like being the quarterback of the team.
“So, it’s been the most fun and rewarding time I’ve ever had in my career, but I can definitely see, I don’t think I’d be able to do it on this level — because I feel the best I’ve ever felt. I feel the best I’ve ever felt at what to do in front of a live crowd, plus we have all these new kids.
Cody Rhodes is scheduled to defend his WWE title against Kevin Owens at Royal Rumble in a Ladder Match
“I was working with one the other day, Carmelo Hayes, really young guy coming up from our developmental system. To be able to see him, hear things, and hear an audience and, ‘Okay, this is why that didn’t work. This is why it did work.’ I’d love to do it at this level, up until probably 45.”
Cody is scheduled to defend his Undisputed WWE Championship against Cody Rhodes in a Ladder Match at the upcoming Royal Rumble event on February 1. This may be the end of this feud as everybody can expect Cody to retain his title. But it will be exciting to see who gets to challenge him at WrestleMania 41.
