Cody Rhodes is the face of WWE right now and he has been promoted as one of the biggest names of promotion ever since he made his return in 2022 at WrestleMania 38. He is only the fourth man in WWE history to win two consecutive Royal Rumble matches and he also dethroned Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40 by ending his 1300+ days World title reign.
But life in WWE was not always fruitful for him. In his first run in the promotion, he was only promoted as a mid card. In 2016, he left WWE in frustration. He worked in various promotions after leaving WWE. He was also a key figure in AEW and he was with the promotion from the very beginning.

He went through a lot of different angles in AEW, including a huge angle with Boxing legend Mike Tyson. Recently, the present Undisputed WWE Champion appeared on the "2 Bears, 1 Cave" podcast where he remembered his work with “Iron” Mike Tyson explained his true feelings about it;

"He's watching all these guys oil up and they're using the bands and pumping up and all of that, and he just looked at me — and I'm getting ready to go out, and at the time, I was also in a management position, so I'm directing some shot — so, he looked at me and just said, 'Do I need oil?'" recalled Rhodes. "I said, 'Yeah, sure.' And so he took his shirt off."

"He just took the bottle and kinda went like, 'You do it.' And he put some on his hands and put it on his chest and then he turned around, 'Sure [makes motion of rubbing oil on Tyson's chest]. Just oiled him up,' and he looked good. I've put oil on another wrestler before, this wasn't the strangest thing. The weirdest thing was right after, he threw his shirt right back over it. And I thought, 'What was the point?'" said Rhodes. "I always felt good about that decision to oil up Mike."
Cody Rhodes was not promoted as a main event star in AEW. He was mostly an upper mid card. He has been promoted as the face of WWE ever since returning to the promotion and he is doing a tremendous job as the ultimate champion. He is also expected to main event WrestleMania 41, which will be his third consecutive WrestleMania main event.
