CM Punk made his return to WWE during the Survivor Series event of 2023 after remaining out of the promotion for nearly a decade. He left after Royal Rumble 2014 in frustration and he never wanted to return to the promotion again but ultimately he buried the hatchet and finally decided to return. He is presently being treated as a main eventer of WWE.
All he wanted was to mainevent a WrestleMania, but every year he felt like he was betrayed. Before WrestleMania 29, he was holding the WWE Championship, but The Rock took the title away from him at Royal Rumble and he also lost the opportunity to main event WrestleMania. For WrestleMania XXX, WWE brought Batista who was a part timer to the main event with Randy Orton. Once again Punk was left out of the main event and he left the promotion in frustration.

CM Punk Reveals His Dream To Get Himself On The Level Of These Wrestling Legends
Punk is definitely one of the biggest names in WWE right now, and the 46 year old can surely be considered a legend of wrestling. ‘The Best in the World’ already had some names in mind whom he wanted his name to be taken with. Speaking with "Inside The Ropes" recently; the former five times WWE World Champion revealed;
"I've always tried to rise to the level of the legends that I've worked with, you know, and early in my career, when I got to work with a guy like Eddie Guerrero, like, you know, I realized, like, real fast there was such a talent and experience disparity that any time, any chance I got to work with a legend, whether it was doing something dark with Stone Cold or doing something with Bret [Hart], I would always try to work with them as much as I could.

"Like, 'Hey Bret you want to put me in the Sharpshooter?' you know? Getting to work with Legends like Rey [Mysterio] and all that."
"I always tried to step up. So it's not so much I'm trying to force other people to step up, I just think we all recognize that, you know, this is fleeting; I could step outside, get hit by a bus, so we all want everything we're doing to be at a very high level, you know, we set the bar pretty high for ourselves.

CM Punk will face Seth Rollins inside a Steel Cage on RAW next week
“So I think we're all chasing that; we're all trying to... I'm trying to rise to other people's levels; if they're trying to rise to whatever they perceive mine to be, great. Then we just have a bunch of motivated people that want to put out the best possible product."
