A large number of WWE fans had been demanding for a mid card championship for the women’s division. Women in WWE has somehow been neglected by Vince McMahon but in 2016, WWE started the women’s revolution and women in WWE started to have their own big matches like Money in the Bank and even Royal Rumble.
After the awakening of the women’s division of the promotion, fans were also looking for a proper mid card division with at least one mid card championship. The wish was never even considered by Vince McMahon, but Triple H surprised the fans with not one but two mid card championships, one for Smackdown and the other one for RAW.
Chelsea Green Reveals How She Spent the Day She Won The Women’s United States Championship
Smackdown got the women’s version of the United States Championship and it was won by Chelsea Green. A total of 12 women participated in the tournament to crown the inaugural champion. Green defeated Michin in the final of the mentioned tournament to win the title. Green recently appeared on “The Wrestling Classic” podcast where she talked about the day of her title win;

“There’s a lot about that day that you are gonna end up seeing. I can’t tell you why, but you will. There’s some fun things that we have coming out, you know with our partnership with Netflix and things like that. So the day, a lot of you’ll be seeing and leading up to it, you’ll kind of be following possibly my journey or my emotions and things like that.”

“The day was really like a normal day. I didn’t have much time to truly just digest the moment. So I took the time after I won the championship to really just like let it sink in, I invited all my family back, my in-laws back, we took pictures. I was able to bring my sister back into the locker room and just hang out.”
Chelsea Green returned to WWE in 2023 as a surprise entrant in the women’s Royal Rumble match and she was eliminated in only 5 seconds time. From that jobber role to being the inaugural Women’s Champion, she had improved herself excellently. The fans can expect her to win the World Championship in the future too.
