The mystery around Mohammed Shami’s participation in the Border Gavaskar Trophy continues to attract a lot of chaos and he might still make it to Australia later in the tournament. However, he will certainly miss the Third Test at the Gabba that is scheduled to start on Saturday, 14th of December according to a report recently published.
Mohammed Shami played in the Quarterfinal game between Baroda and Bengal of SMAT 2024 on Wednesday.
Recently, Indian Cricket Team skipper Rohit Sharma stated that the team has to wait for Mohammed Shami, but also revealed that the pacer again suffered with swollen knee while playing in SMAT. He has picked 11 wickets in nine matches at an economy rate of 7.86 and at a strike rate of just 19. So, he shown good fitness and even bowled over 40 overs in a Ranji game, envisioned that he is willing to play for the Team India.
Team India Takes A Snobbish Route For Shami
Mohammed Shami last played for Indian Cricket Team in the 2023 World Cup and was India’s most successful bowler ever in that crucial tournament. In February 2024, he underwent surgery to repair his Achilles Tendon and since has been going through distress.
Earlier, there were hopes that Shami would be fit before the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, but he could not make it in time. The Indian management is taking a cautious route as Shami has been Injury-prone right throughout his career and there have been various remarks where Indian players and support staff have stated that they don’t want to rush Shami and then escalate his injury further.
Now it is all set to depend on the Kohli-Rohit duo and Siraj-Bumrah.
Therefore it is important to watch whether the RO-KO duo would likely to click a victory over Australia In that decisive match or not.
