Over the years, WWE has always had one or multiple faces of the promotion. Bruno Sammartino is recognized as the earliest known face of WWE, followed by Hulk Hogan during the Golden Era of the promotion. In the Attitude Era, Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, and The Undertaker as the face, and during the Ruthless Aggression Era and the PG Era John Cena was the face of WWE.
After John Cena, the man who carried WWE as the face of the promotion. ‘The Head of The Table’ is still the biggest draw of WWE and despite the promotion’s attempt to build Cody Rhodes as the new face, Reigns is still running supreme as he is indeed the most famous name among the wrestling fans.
Breaking News: Multi Times World Champion Issues Huge Challenge to Roman Reigns!
It is a dream for the younger wrestlers to share the ring with ‘The Big Dog,’ even the legends who had been the biggest draws of their time also want to have a match with the longest reigning WWE World Champion of the modern era. Former three times WWE World Champion Jeff Hardy recently expressed his desire to face Reigns in a one on one match. Speaking with San Antonio Express-News recently, Hardy said;
Roman Reigns is the longest reigning WWE World Champion of the modern era
“One of my dream matches was always Roman Reigns I used to say,” Jeff Hardy began. “I still have that in my head before it’s all over in my career. Roman Reigns is a big one.”
“I’m not sure. It was so weird. When I left WWE in 2021 my dad had been real sick. 2017, right after we went back to WWE at Mania, that was probably around the time that he felt good for the last time before he slipped back into this dark depression.”
Roman Reigns is a six times WWE World Champion
“But yeah, I’d been taking care of him, and it was just bad to where he did not want to be here. He was ready to go. Our mom died at a young age, I was 10 when she passed away. So I’ve always told myself when he needs me, I’m going to take care of him. I just did everything I could to get him excited about life and all that stuff. So that’s definitely when my drinking got carried away during those times that I’ve never really talked about.”
This has also been a dream match for a lot of wrestling fans, but these two athletes never went head to head despite both of them working in WWE together during Hardy’s final run in WWE. Even though Hardy is signed with TNA Wrestling, WWE and TNA have recently signed a multi year partnership deal where we can see cross brand appearances and matches. So the dream match of Roman Reigns vs. Jeff Hardy is definitely a big possibility.
