‘The Heart Break Kid’ Shawn Michaels announced his in ring retirement back in 2010 after his historic match against The Undertaker at WrestleMania XXVI. Even in his retirement match, Michaels delivered a classic and this match is considered one of the best worked matches in professional wrestling history.
Michaels was only 44 at the time of his retirement and it was a heart breaking moment for wrestling fans all around the world. His retirement match is widely considered the second best match in WrestleMania history, only behind Michaels vs. The Undertaker from WrestleMania 25.

The fans asked questions about why would Michaels decide to retire at such a young age when he could produce such amazing matches. The fans kept on requesting Michaels to return but he was determined. However, in 2018, he finally made a return to provide a dream match between DX and Brothers of Destruction.

The match was so bad that the fans hoped Michaels would have never returned to action. After the failure of this match, Michaels made it clear that would never return to the ring again. However, NXT star JDC who was previously known as Fandango claimed that Michaels still has one or a couple of matches left. While attending a Q&A at the recent ‘For The Love of Wrestling’ convention, JDC said the following;

“You know who I talked to [at NXT] last week, who said he’s got one or two matches left in him? Shawn Michaels. Yeah, and that’s a guy, he’s the reason why I got into the business. So honestly, it’d probably never happen, but that would be my dream match.” Said the former NXT Tag Team Champion.
Previously, there had been reports that WWE wanted to book a dream match between The Heart Break Kid and AJ Styles. The wrestling fans were eagerly waiting to see this dream match as it was even teased officially. However, Michaels decided not to have this match, especially, after the failure in Saudi Arabia. Maybe he finally agrees to do this match as we all know that AJ Styles has the ability to carry any wrestler.
