Baron Corbin was one of the biggest projects of Vince McMahon whom the former boss always valued highly. He achieved multiple successes in the promotion such as the United States Championship, Money in The Bank, and also the prestigious King of The Ring. He even got the privilege of retiring Kurt Angle at WrestleMania 35

Despite Vince McMahon’s high approval, Triple H never saw him as anything special. Once ‘The Cerebral Assassin’ became in charge of WWE, Corbin was instantly turned into a jobber. He was also demoted to NXT, where he at least won the NXT Tag Team Championship with Bron Breakker.

Baron Corbin Reveals What Ring Name He Will Be Going By Outside WWE, Also; Whether He is Considering a Move to AEW

Shawn Michaels, who is presently in charge of NXT, did not want bury him instantly. However, as soon as he was taken back into the main roster, he was a jobber again. He struggled to get regular booking. Ultimately, he was let go of the promotion in November 2024. Recently, Baron Corbin spoke with Chris Van Vliet where he discussed his future plans. He also revealed the ring name he would use post WWE;

“I would love to go to New Japan, I think for multiple reasons. And you know, the door never closes with WWE, either. And as far as AEW, their fans, they like that AEW in a sense is its own entity and built from the ground up. And I don’t want to be, if I went there, out of respect for that world, I wouldn’t want to be just another WWE guy that came there because they left WWE.

“I would rather go and do New Japan for a year or more. Who knows, maybe that’s where I just love it and I stay there for the rest of my wrestling career. So if I ever did go that route, I would want to kinda clear that, ‘Oh he’s just a WWE guy coming over.’

“Baron Corbin is dead, as far as we know. We’re dropping a new name, new moniker, new character.”

Baron Corbin is a former WWE United States Champion

“I want to go to New Japan. TNA has called, so maybe there is something there. Maybe NWA. I am open to it all, because I love wrestling, and if I can go somewhere and be in front of fans, I’m gonna go. I know that I don’t want to sign a contract right now because I like this ability.

“So, I’m going with ‘The Nomad’ Bishop Dyer. I’m gonna be The Nomad. I’m gonna roam, man...it pays tribute to The Lone Wolf, dire wolf. And then a bishop is higher than a baron, so we’re going up. The rankings are going up.” Corbin continued, “...I think it’s a powerful name, it’s a cool name, and I want to be The Nomad. I’m gonna float and see where the wrestling world takes me in that sense.”

“He’s dead. Bishop Dyer is the guy. I think [Baron Corbin is] dead. I think he’s dead, and there’s no looking back.” Were his final words on his Baron Corbin character.

Baron Corbin 1

Baron Corbin was released from WWE in November 2024

For a short time period Corbin played a different gimmick in WWE which was ‘Sad Corbin.’ It became a big hit among the fans and a large of numbers wanted to see a longer continuation of this character. But Vince was being Vince once again as he dropped the character as soon as it became hit.

He introduced a new character named Happy Corbin which was the exact opposite of Sad Corbin. A lot of fans expected Triple H would bring back the Sad Corbin character again, but it seems like there no chance of seeing it ever again. There are a lot of names Vince McMahon wanted to push, but Triple H had no empathies for them, Baron Corbin was one of them, unfortunately.
