Chromebooks are used mostly by students and people with light productivity needs, at large. However, with the new Chromebook Plus lineup, Google aims to change that perception, while wooing power users. A strong contender in the newly announced lineup is the Chromebook Plus CX34 from the stable of Asus. The Taiwanese tech giant has launched the model with a rugged build and a beefy spec list. This affordable and lightweight laptop will woo casual and serious users alike.
The Chromebook Plus CX34 is US MIL-STD 810H compliant and comes with Asus’s Antimicrobial Guard protection to safeguard the palm rest, keyboard, and a touchpad. At 1.44 kg, you will feel no hassles in carrying it anywhere. The laptop sports a 14-inch FHD display and has a robust 180° lay-flat hinge.
Asus claims 10 hours of battery life for this PC. Spec-wise, you have everything covered, almost. There is a beefy Intel Core i7 processor and you can choose to have it with 16 GB LPDDR5 RAM. Storage is handled by a fast 512 GB SSD. The display is optional touch type. The backlit keyboard earns it some extra brownie points.
The device supports WiFi 6 and you get a 1080p webcam with a retractable cover. As for wired connectivity, you cannot complain. It comes with USB 3.2 ports, a headphone/mic combo port, and an HDMI 1.4 port. The software list is also impressive and it ships with Adobe Photoshop, Google Apps and Google Docs.
