Arsenal is reportedly closing the deal of Zubimendi activating the release clause of €51 million to Real Sociedad in the summer window. Gunners are preparing for the arrival of this Spanish player to ensure neat paperwork which previously caused a collapsed deal in the 2024 summer.
Arsenal Transfer News: Martin Zubimendi’s Inclusion In The Team Could Ensure The Exit Of Two Gunners In 2025
Zubimendi’s move to Arsenal would ensure the Defensive Midfielder position. Thereby, the existing DMF Thomas Partey and Jorginho might have to leave in the summer as both players have contracts until 2025. There is no talk between management and the players regarding a contract extension, ensuring the exit of these stars.
Arteta refused to clarify the contract situation of the two midfielders
“What I can say is that it’s not what I want, it's what both those players have in their minds as well and what their situations are,” Arteta said regarding the contract renewal dilemma of Partey and Jorginho.
He added, “I don’t want to start to have these conversations now, I want to have these conversations much later because the focus has to be on what we have to do in the season. They can understand the intentions and then we can see what we can do.”
“It’s close communication with them to understand as well what their idea is, what they want to do, express as well our intentions and then let’s decide for everybody what is the best option there
“But it’s two players that I am very, very happy with. They are such a value in the squad. And I want to keep them as well with the right mind frame because the most important part of the season is coming now.”
Sociedad's rejection of offer from Liverpool previously at dying moment hampered Zubimendi's deal
Now, when the talk is ongoing with Zubimendi's agent and management of Real Sociedad, it's becoming evident that the tenures of Partey and Jorginho are coming to an end in Arsenal.
