Apple is waning attack on devices pointing out governments for breaking into locked phones and immediately released an update for iOS and iPadOS devices with a security patch.

The company shared details of released iOS 18.3.1 and iPadOS 18.3.1 updates to mitigate CVE-2025-24200, accountable for plaguing many of its iPhones and iPads. This causes physical attack disabling the USB-restricted mode in locked devices that prevents data transfer when the device is locked for a longer time.

Attackers disable the option of letting the malicious actor drain data from the locked device which is locked for even more than one hour by hacking tools to bypass passwords or security codes to extract data via USB connection.
The official statement includes, “Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been exploited in an extremely sophisticated attack against specific targeted individuals.” The company claimed to have fixed the issues in the new update and improved the security for further issues.
