Blackberry Mobiles Highlights

BlackBerry, formerly referred to as a manufacturer of one of the most secure smartphones in the Indian market, was founded in January 1999 by a Canadian company dubbed BlackBerry Limited. Previously, BlackBerry mobiles have been one of the most common gadgets in the Indian market, marking BlackBerry as a prominent player in the industry. It was, however, acquired by BB Merah Putih in 2016, followed by Optiemus Infracom in 2017, and TCL Corporation in 2016. Fast forward to 2020 and the BlackBerry smartphone brand is now under the acquisition of Onward Mobility. Having been one of the most popular players in the market, BlackBerry’s dominance fell drastically in 2016 when consumers shifted more towards the Android and iOS ecosystems.

BlackBerry did, however, made a comeback with Android OS powered smartphones. But before that, BlackBerry all mobiles were powered by the BlackBerry OS, one of the most secure mobile phone platforms at that time. Moreover, in the same time period, many consumers had a distinct advantage of using BBM (BlackBerry Messenger), a neatly crafted messaging application used to send texts, audio, images, pictures with secure encryption via BlackBerry PIN. However, it was soon introduced to iOS and Android platforms making BlackBerry phones lose that distinct advantage over others. BlackBerry, too, then moved over to Android, and its first Android OS powered smartphone was the BlackBerry Priv with a sliding keyboard and a dual-curved display. It was released in November 2015 and featured Android 6.0. To take a look at its current phones, on the other hand, make sure to check our BlackBerry mobile price list above.
